Judging Criteria
All entries to the eFIG Awards will be judged using the following criteria:
Stage 1
- All entry material has been received by the deadline and all the entry criteria have been met in full.
Stage 2
- All entry material is marked against the judging criteria.
- Judges will use their area of expertise to judge entries.
- Shortlist of the schemes is to be prepared for the judges visits.
Stage 3
- Judges visits; shortlisted sites are to be visited by one judge who will report his findings to the panel.
- Establishment of the accolade awarded and confirmation of “commended schemes”.
- There will be NO limit to the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards awarded per category.
Please note: We appreciate that some site visits may have limited access due to security etc. Please make these sites known on your entry and if your entry makes it through to Stage 3, we can discuss site access for judging.
Design and Installation Award - Judging Criteria
The Design and Installation Award will be judged on the following areas:
Brief
- Scope
- Realization
- Practicability
- Innovation
- Client’s brief overall impression
- Visual impact
- Originality
- Overall design
- Unity
- Balance
- Scale
- Invention and creativity may also be rewarded
Construction
- Quality
- Finish
- Special features
- Obstacles and the way they were overcome
- Balance of planting and hard landscaping
Planting
- Design
- Colour
- Texture
- Association
- Appropriate use of real or artificial planting to the conditions
- Quality and finish
Maintenance Award – Judging Criteria
The Maintenance Award will be judged on the following areas:
- Overall impression
- Visual impact
- Unity
- Balance
- Scale planting
- Quality & finish
- Special features
- Obstacles and the way they were overcome
- Appropriate use of planting to the conditions/environment
- Innovative environmentally friendly methods
- Positive effects upon the local environment
Technician Award - Judging Criteria
The Technician Award will be judged on the following areas:
Quality of Horticultural Service Provided
- The health of the plants
- Pest and disease control
- The cleanliness of the plants and the containers
- Supporting and pruning
- Fertiliser application
- Scheduling of visits according to any special requirements
- Special maintenance requirements e.g. seasonal changing or colour changes
- Special features e.g. rocks, water etc.
- Innovative environmental friendly methods will be considered
- Positive effects upon the local environment will be considered
Please note: Previous award winners are not permitted to re-enter the same site in the same category for any of the eFIG Awards for up to 3 years.
